I've been waiting for it to happen. It happens every year around this time. Though every year I swear it won't happen, it does. Just as we round the corner into August, there it is - Fall Fever !!!

Ugh! Fall. The F word. I know. I try to resist, I do. But then the Sears Fall Catalogue comes out with their sweaters. Wool sweaters, fooler tops, twin sets, and this year, the boat neck sweater. I cannot say how much I love the boat neck sweater. The boat neck sweater has that great neckline. The boat neck sweater recalls the classic times of Audrey Hepburn. Did I mention the boat neck sweater? I think I'm having a Lorelei moment of ranting. Anyone who watches the Gilmore Girls will understand. I'm just a sweater girl. Anyone who knows me, knows that I love sweaters. I remember one Christmas, I was shopping for clothes and tried to do the funky top. It was when those long peasant bell sleeves were everywhere. I'd try them on, but it just didn't look right. But a brown v-neck wool sweater? Perfect.

I like wool. I don't know what it is about it that I like so much. It's hot. Scratchy. A bugger to clean. But I love it. Three Christmas's ago I finally got my black wool coat. I had been wanting one for only about seven years. Not bad. The next coat on my list is the cropped leather jacket. I figure I should have one by the time I'm 40. Hmmmm. Maybe I'm aiming high. 42?

I just finished watching another two episodes of Sex and the City.  I never had HBO or Bravo (insert teardrop here) so I had only watched a handful of episodes, one of which was the finale.  I knew I loved the show ....but I really LOVE the show!  I'm Charlotte by the way.  After tonight, I now understand the true significance of when, during the finale, Mr. Big looks at her and says "You're the one".  Every Tuesday is now my night.  My night to laugh, gasp and just plain enjoy.  God Bless TBS!!

Sidebar:
Sometimes on rainy days or late at night when I am the only one awake, I walk to my front window and slowly part open the curtains.  Everytime I do this, I am almost surprised that the New York City skyline is not looking back at me.  (I have this kind of obsession with the city.....ask anyone.)  I stare up at the dark sky and wonder.....what the sky looks like in NYC.  Can you even see it?

We've had a few inquiries regarding our mobile home which is for sale.  No strong bites yet, but the interest alone looks promising.  I have to say this "not knowing" is not so great.  I'm the kind of person who likes to know.  That way you can plan, brainstorm, or just daydream about the future.  I'm kinda anal like that.   It's hard to picture decorating for the holidays when you don't know where you'll be living.  Takes me twice as long to get to sleep now.  And so, it begins.....

Exterior shot of our mobile home that is for sale Posted by Hello

We have decided to put our trailer up for sale.  We were going to wait until next spring, when we had our bills paid down a little more.  But Jason worked the numbers again and realized that it would be the difference of working only one more overtime shift a month.  Once we sell our trailer we are going to order a new mini-home.  So now I guess we have a little jump on getting the word out that it is for sale.

In case anyone knows someone who is interested, here is the info.

1972 3 Bedroom Open Concept Mobile Home
separate laundry room, new flooring through-out including laminate, some new windows and steel door, new oil furnace and tank, new fridge and stove, some draperies to remain, must be moved.
Asking $13,000 neg.

I haven't written in quite awhile because we went on vacation to Prince Edward Island.  We left first thing Monday morning and did not get back til Thursday afternoon.  We had a wonderful time.  We stayed at Millstream cottages in Brackley Beach.  It is so beautiful there.  Ours was a quaint one bedroom cottage that had a queen sized bed and then a double pull out sofa.  Each cottage has their own BBQ, deck and firepit.  They had a heated in-ground pool, which we stayed in a lot.  They had boats, life jackets, etc... so you could go out on the pond.  Across the pond was the Millstream Trail Rides so we were constantly watching horses walk along the other side of the pond.....very nice.

Monday we unpacked, went swimming and drove into Charlottetown, which is only 15 mins away.  Tuesday we did the tourist attractions.  We went to Avonlea Village again.  We had been there last year and loved it.  The kids love Anne and we all had a great time.  Then it was on to Woodleigh, where there are miniature replicas of various famous castles.  The Tower of London was really cool.  There is also a maze made out of trees.  It was so hot I was scared that we would get lost in it and die of dehydration, but Samuel led the way out.  Wednesday was our relaxing day at the beach.  Stupidly we took a beach ball with us, which of course ended up being blown out into the ocean.  Samuel cried for at least twenty minutes.  You know how long it takes until you can't see something out in the ocean.  At last it was just a little dot and Samuel finally let it go.  Abby was a little bathing beauty.  She amazed me at how much she loved the water.  I thought she would be at least a little nervous, but no.  Jason of course would not go near the ocean.  He has a phobia about sharks.  I tried to tell him that there has never been a documented shark attack on PEI, but no go.

Thursday was a sad day because we had to go home.  I always am so nervous when we leave home to go on vacation because of the long drive...but then when we get there I never want to leave.  I love PEI so much I think I would almost move there.  It is so beautiful with the hills and fields.  And I love that their sand is red.  I meant to take some home with me in a bottle but when we left it was raining so I didn't bother.  Next time.

We had planned on coming home on the ferry and then driving home through Nova Scotia, but it was so windy and rainy we thought it best that we take the bridge.  The wind on the bridge was bad enough.  I can only imagine what it would have been like on the ferry for 75 mins.  Especially since we have never been on the ferry before.  I think I would have gotten sea sick for sure.

Tomorrow we are going on our first camping trip with the kids.  Just for one night to see what it will be like.  We bought a huge tent this spring.  It is one that you can stand up in.  It's suppose to sleep 7.  Hopefully all will go well.

It pains me to say this, but..........my streak is over. I had this infamous Seinfeld like streak going where I had not vomited for 15 years. Remember the black and white cookie? Sadly, my streak ended today at approximately 5pm. I started coughing and could not stop and the rest as they say is history. Have to say...... didn’t really miss it.

I know this may be just a little bit too much information for some people, but it’s really a big deal! I mean think about it, fifteen years!! Jason and I have been together since April 1990, and he has never, ever witnessed or heard tell of me having vomited. So of course I had to call Jason on his cell phone to share my shocking news. And shocked he was! He was like ,” O Man, I missed it!” Just a little taste of how rare or odd our relationship is.

Don't you hate when you have a cold in the summer? It just seems unnatural, doesn't it? I mean in the winter, it's like a give in. You expect it. But in the summer... It's supposed to be that in the winter you have your colds, flus, ear infections, etc.. and in the summer you have your sun burns, heat exhaustion, west nile, etc... I know I am ranting. It's just that I have this cough/sore throat that will not GO AWAY! I swear to God I am losing my mind. In the middle of the night, while suffering from sleep deprivation(because I can't stop coughing long enough to get some sleep!!)I wonder what the world record is for coughing. I've heard stories about people being hospitalized for the hiccups...that they literally never stop hiccuping. I ask myself, is the same true for coughing? Who is the record holder? How many more days do I have to go to steal the title? Have there been any cases documented where coughing has lead to insanity? I bet there has. Or maybe that can be my title. Maybe I can be in the Guiness Book of World Records as the first person to go insane from having a cold. Now I know I am ranting. Must sleep. Must go take another one of my friends the fishermen. Sweet Dreams.

The liquor store in Newcastle called me this morning to tell me that I had won a BBQ Utensil set. I never win anything! Kellie and Mom were running into town so they picked them up for me. Fancy! They are completely stainless steel and come in their own little case. Totally will make us look like serious BBQers. We're going to take them with us on vacation. Jason says now, when he's putting weiners on the barbie he'll have to shout BAM!

Saturday night's party was a success...I think. It is so hard to tell when it is yours. The day got off to a rocky start. I woke up Saturday morning sick as a dog. My throat was very sore, my voice scratchy, and my head about to explode. I had even woke up in the night passing out. Then we had a thunderstorm which soaked everything outside. So for a few tense hours I thought we might have to change it to an indoor party. I chanted all day long..."Please God No More Rain, Please God No More Rain,etc...". And my wish was granted.

The kids went over to Mom's around seven. They were beyond excited to have a sleepover with Grammie. Abby looked a little skeptical but made out just fine. The decorations outside looked very festive. Well, I got a lot of compliments on them anyway. My frozen lemon and lime slices and glow in the dark stir sticks were a hit. Everyone wore the "plastic" leas, although some complained they were itchy. I had wanted to buy everyone a flower lea but just couldn't afford it. We are thinking of making it an annual event, so maybe next year I can pick up a few here and there.

We actually got a pretty good turn out. There were the few who couldn't make it, but overall a good crowd. Everyone seemed to have a good time. Like I said, it's always hard to tell when you are the one hosting the party. Jason, who was also sick, got a massive headache and ended up going to bed quite early. As pathetic as it sounds, I found I didn't quite know what to do with myself without him. I missed him....See! I told you it was pathetic. For Jason, getting the headache turned out to be a blessing when Sunday morning he felt fine. I, on the other hand, after consuming three Mike's, two shots, half a margarita and a sip of Sip and Go Naked....woke up sick as a dog...my throat very sore, my voice scratchy and my head about to explode. Oh well, once a year you're allowed!

Abby, Jules and Samuel at the drive-in. Posted by Hello

|

This week has been a very busy one. Too busy to even blog. Saturday night we took the kids to the drive-in for the first time to see Shrek 2. I think I was more excited then they were. It was one of those surreal moments when you realize that history is repeating itself. That moment when you can remember doing something when you were a child and cannot believe that here you are with your own kids doing it all over again. The movie was very funny and I think the night went very well. We did have our moments when we were like "Jehovah! Let's just go home!" but they didn't last long. I took some homemade parowax cookies with us, or as we have always called them, "Bumpity, Bumps" (long story). So there in the back seat were my three kids all in their pj's eating bumpity bumps at the drive-in. Jules caught sight of a moth in the light of the projector and is convinced that she seen Tinkerbell. I think it's moments like that, that I will remember when they have all grown up.

Wednesday night was the fireworks. Abby was not scared at all this year. She wouldn't even let me hold her. She had to stand with the other kids. When the fireworks exploded she clapped and jumped up and down, and then when the huge boom sounded, she'd smile at me and say, "OOO scared me!". She's just too cute! Jason worked Thursday, so my Mom and I went to my Aunt's to watch the parade. It was actually quite long this year. The kids really enjoyed themselves. Aunt Donna and all her candy and cheesies...how could they not?

Tomorrow night is the party. I think we might actually get a crowd. I was obsessing a little on how many people were going to show up, but now I'm more like as long as I get to go...... I have leis for everyone to wear and my sister and I are even going to wear a flower in our hair. I have alot of lights strung outside and am going to put out some torches, my paperbag lanterns, candles, etc... I just hope it doesn't rain. But if it does, oh well...we're still throwing a party!
